In the memory of his father, Late Mr. M. R. Morarka, the M.R. Morarka-GDC Rural Research Foundation was founded in 1993 by Late. Shri Kamal Morarka. Conceived as a non-profit, voluntary organization, the Foundation was established as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Gannon Dunkerley & Company Ltd.

Since its inception, the Foundation has remained steadfast in its commitment to creating enduring value for the nation through innovation in natural resource management, the promotion of sustainable agriculture, and the strengthening of capacities within farming communities.
